VFW Post 11999 is currently preparing to conduct its annual commemorative services on Memorial Day. Each year, the Post holds these ceremonies in mountain area cemeteries where veterans have been laid to rest. They help to remind local communities of the sacrifices that veterans have made to protect our nation’s commitment to freedom. Services are tentatively planned for May 25—starting at the James Canyon Cemetery at 9:00am, then moving on to the Mayhill Cemetery at 11:00am, and concluding at the Weed Cemetery at 12:00pm. All community residents and visitors are welcome to attend.
VFW Post 11999 always participates in the Cloudcroft School's annual Veterans’ Day Program at the Cloudcroft High School. During the program, the Post announces its local winners of the VFW’s "Patriot's Pen" and "Voice of Democracy" essay contests.
The CDR John D. Rider VFW Post 11999 hosts its annual Spaghetti Dinner on Veteran's Day at the Cloudcroft Senior Center located at 212 Glorietta Avenue in Cloudcroft. During the dinner, the post raffles highly sought prizes. All dinner and raffle proceeds benefit local veterans, Sacramento Mountain Community support and the post's Award Winning "Warriors in Transition" Program.
Post 11999 will once again be displaying more than sixty 4x6 American Flags in the Village of Cloudcroft for Memorial Day as part of its ongoing Flag Program! The post displays flags on all patriotic holidays as reminder of the contributions and sacrifices our Veteran's have given to our great country.
Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!!
